A group of guys affiliated with our local BMW CCA chapters (mostly instructors/club racers) got together a three-hour endurance kart race. Indoor, gas engines (9hp I believe). We had 12 teams of 3 drivers each.

My team, Oppo Kartel, held P1 through the first two stints (1 hour each - about 225 laps in total) but fell 3 laps back by the end to finish in P2.

Considering that I've never driven for a full hour before without a break, and that it was my very first position-based kart race, I'm pretty thrilled with the result.

Tomorrow's going to be fun... I'm sore already.

What was your fastest lap?

My fastest was in the mid 29 second range I think, but they didn't give us complete race data so I don't really know. Our team's fastest was 28.863 (put down in the first hour of racing)

Wow. It would be cool if they provided it and you made something along the lines of a line graph to see if driver fatigue is a factor in times.

They gave us a 1-page printout with a graph showing lap times over the course of the race, but it was so condensed (their races are usually 15 laps - our team got in about 320 by the end of the enduro) because their software isn't set up to handle it that it wasn't very useful. Normally the place even emails your race data to you. I guess they just don't have a good way to do that for special events.

I agree, I'd love to see a chart of my 100 some laps. I had to do the kart change, and I really didn't like the second kart as well as the first one, so I think there would've been a distinct bump there in my times.

Even though we didn't get print-outs we did have real-time data while the race was going on, and I can tell you that neither of our other two drivers slowed down at all due to fatigue, even at the end of an hour. I couldn't read the screen while I was driving, so I don't know whether I slowed down at all. I didn't really start to get tired until the last 10 minutes, as crazy as that sounds!
